Baptisms

A baptism is a special occasion for everybody and we are always delighted to hold a baptism at St Michael’s.

All baptism services take place at 10 o’clock on a Sunday morning, which is when we hold our regular principal weekly service.  The focus of the service will be on the baptism, in the presence of family and friends, as well as our regular church members.  The service will include some hymns or songs and we are happy to include a particular hymn or song that you like.

Because baptism is such an important occasion, it is essential that some preparation is done. This will involve parents and godparents attending two preparatory sessions at St Michael’s before the baptism service.  These will be informal but informative and engaging and are an essential part of the baptism process.

In preparation session one, we will look at baptism from the parents’ viewpoint, and in session two consider the church’s approach to baptism. A baptism rehearsal can also be arranged if this is helpful to you.

We would encourage baptism families to attend a baptism service too, before your own service.

If you wish to book a baptism, or have any further questions, please call our Church Administrator on 01823 332371.
